Terms of use

These terms are an agreement between you and Alex Vestea (“I”, “me”), in Romania, for your use of the Yours In Progress iPhone app and the services behind it (“the app”). By using the app you agree to them and to the privacy policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app. They apply alongside Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement.

1. What Yours In Progress is

A personal-growth journal. You choose goals, get three small daily actions and a daily quote, and write short evening reflections. With your permission and a Yours In Progress Plus subscription, you also get a weekly letter written in the voice of your imagined future self.

2. Who can use it

You must be at least 16 to use the app. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use it only with the permission of a parent or guardian.

3. Your account

• The app creates an anonymous account for you automatically. You can link Sign in with Apple so your letters, goals and name can be restored on another iPhone.
• Most of your data lives only on your iPhone. Your daily actions, reflections and moods are not stored on my servers, so if you lose or reset your device I cannot restore them. Use the app's export to keep your own copy.
• Anonymous accounts that are not linked to Sign in with Apple, have no active Plus subscription and go unused for 180 days are deleted from my servers, as the privacy policy describes.
• You can delete your account and data at any time in Settings → Privacy → Delete account and data. This cannot be undone.

4. The AI-written letters

• Letters, personalized quotes and action suggestions are written by an AI system from a third party, Anthropic, from a short summary of your week, and only if you have allowed AI personalization. The privacy policy says exactly what is sent.
• The “future self” is a creative framing, not a prediction or a promise. Letters do not know your future and are not from a real person.
• The app does not give medical, mental-health, therapeutic, financial or legal advice. Nothing in it is a diagnosis or a substitute for professional help. Mood tracking is for your own reflection only.
• What the AI writes can be inaccurate, incomplete or unsuitable despite the checks it goes through. Use your own judgement before acting on any suggestion.
• Yours In Progress is not a crisis service. If you are in distress or think you may be in danger, contact your local emergency services or a crisis line in your country.
• If you turn AI personalization off, the app keeps working, with hand-written quotes and actions.

5. Your content

• You own the goals, actions, reflections and other text you write in the app (“your content”).
• You give me a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free permission to store, process and send your content only as far as needed to provide the app to you, including sending the summary described in the privacy policy to my AI provider when you have allowed it. Your content is never used for advertising.
• Letters, quotes and suggestions written for you are for your own personal, non-commercial use.

6. What you may not do

• Use the app to break the law.
• Try to reach other users' data, or probe, disrupt or overload the servers, including by getting around rate limits or the one-per-device introductory letter.
• Reverse engineer the app, except where the law gives you that right regardless of what these terms say.
• Use the app or its AI features to produce content for resale or for anyone other than yourself.
• Try to make the AI produce harmful content.

I may suspend or end access for anyone who does.

7. Yours In Progress Plus

• Plus is an optional auto-renewing subscription, monthly or yearly. Prices are shown in the app in your local currency before you buy. The yearly plan may include a free trial for eligible users.
• Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase, or after the free trial ends. The subscription renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel anytime in Settings › Apple ID › Subscriptions.
• Any unused part of a free trial is forfeited when you buy a subscription, where that applies.
• Deleting your account or the app does not cancel your subscription. Cancel it with Apple.
• Purchases are processed by Apple, and refunds are handled by Apple under its policies. I cannot issue refunds directly.
• If your subscription ends, weekly letters stop and the Plus-only views (full history, full letter archive, favorites) are locked. Your data is not deleted because a subscription ended.
• Weekly letters depend on AI personalization being on, a recent summary from your device, and the AI provider being available. A letter may occasionally be late or not written, for example if the service is down or a letter fails the quality checks. When that happens the app says so instead.

8. Free features

The introductory letter is available once per account and per device. Data export and account deletion are always available to everyone. Other free features, such as the hand-written quotes and actions, reflections, mood and recent history, may change over time.

9. Other services the app relies on

Apple (App Store, notifications, Sign in with Apple, DeviceCheck), Supabase, Anthropic, RevenueCat, TelemetryDeck and Sentry, as the privacy policy describes. Their availability is outside my control.

10. Changes

Features may change, be paused or be discontinued. I will give reasonable notice of material changes to these terms in the app or on this site, and using the app after a change takes effect means you accept it.

11. No warranty

The app is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to fitness for a particular purpose, the accuracy of AI-written content, and uninterrupted availability. I am not liable for any claim, damages or other liability, whether in an action of contract, tort or otherwise, arising from, out of or in connection with the app or its use, including the loss of data stored only on your device.

Nothing here limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited, or affects consumer rights you have under the law of the country you live in, which stand regardless of what is written here.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of Romania, without regard to its conflict of law rules.

If you use the app as a consumer, that choice does not deprive you of the protection of any mandatory provision of the law of the country you live in, and it does not affect where you are entitled to bring proceedings.

13. Apple

These terms are between you and me, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content, has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for it, and is not responsible for claims relating to it. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
